Shell (on the caster): Consumes 1 stack to reduce damage taken to 1. This effect takes precedence over guard.-99% Damage Taken
Energy: Energy indicates how energized a unit is. When tired, units fall asleep automatically, and if energy is fully depleted, the unit becomes Severely Exhausted, falling unconscious and unresponsive. Energy depletes slowly while awake and is consumed when using skills. Let the unit sleep, lie in bed, or rest near a campfire to recover energy.
Severely Exhausted: -5 Mood-50% Strength-50% Constitution-50% Willpower-50% Intelligence-50% Agility-50% Perception+0.4 Energy Regeneration
How the math works
Energy recovered is banked into a float accumulator. Every whole point becomes 1 stack of the hidden counter. When the counter reaches 60 the wearer gains 1 Shell, unless it already holds 20 Shell.
Where it lands: One counter stack is exactly 1 Energy, which is why the counter's max stack is 200.
When it runs: Whenever the wearer's Energy goes up, then again when the hidden counter is applied.
What it applies to: Any positive energy change on the wearer.
Worked numbers
| Energy recovered | Shell gained |
|---|---|
| 60 | 1 |
| 120 | 2 |
| 300 | 5 |
| 600 | 10 |
| 1200 | 20 |
| 1500 | 20 |
Shell held, assuming none was lost in between.
Rule of thumb: 60 Energy is 1 Shell.
Things the tooltip does not tell you
- Fractional energy regeneration is banked rather than dropped, so nothing is lost to rounding.
- The 20 is the ceiling on Shell stacks, not a cap on how many times the inscription may trigger.
- On each grant the counter resets to 1, not to 0.
How it interacts with other effects
- Anything that raises energy regeneration raises the Shell rate in direct proportion.
