Recruit More Units

Steam

Your settlement recruits from a board of candidates. The board shows 6 to 7 candidates at the first rank and 8 to 9 at rank 3, the highest rank this build allows. Four things decide how many units you can recruit: your Expedition Rank, the refresh timer, the reroll button, and the member cap.

Four ways to recruit more

1. Raise your Expedition Reputation Rank

Every rank adds candidates to the board, raises the member cap, widens the candidate level span and unlocks races. Locked ranks exist in the data but cannot be reached in this build.

Full recruit odds per level and race are on the Expedition Rank page.

2. Wait for the board to refresh

The board rolls a new set of candidates on its own every 480 in-game minutes, which is 8 in-game hours. The timer starts full, so a new campaign rolls its first board right away. Candidates you did not hire are replaced; hire before the timer runs out if you want one of them.

3. Reroll the board by hand

The refresh button rolls a new board at once. It costs clan gold, and the price is set per rank:

rank 1: 100 gold rank 2: 200 gold rank 3: 250 gold

The gold is taken first. With less gold than the price nothing happens and the game shows a notice. A manual reroll also restarts the automatic timer.

Notice when you cannot pay
You don't have enough gold to recruit.

4. Make room under the member cap

A new campaign starts with a cap of 4 members. Every rank adds its own bonus on top of the previous ranks:

rank 1: 4 members rank 2: 5 members rank 3: 6 members

At the cap the board still shows candidates, but hiring fails until a member leaves or dies, or you rank up.

Notice at the cap
You can't recruit beyond the maximum expedition size.

How to rank up: Contribution Points

Contribution Point

Official in-game text
Represents how much your expedition has contributed to dungeon exploration.
When Contribution reaches its maximum, your Expedition Rank increases.

It can be earned by completing certain quests or fulfilling Expedition Resolutions.

Contribution Points come from 65 Expedition Resolutions and from 6 dungeon events. A resolution is a small task offered at base; completing it pays the points listed in its reward.

The rules, read from the game code

  1. Contribution points add up. When the total reaches the contribution your current rank requires, the clan ranks up by one step, the points above the requirement carry over, and the next rank's requirement becomes the new target.
  2. One grant raises the rank by at most one step; points still above the new target wait for the next grant before they trigger another rank-up.
  3. At the reachable cap (rank 3 in this build) points keep accumulating only up to the rank's requirement and then stop; no further rank-up happens. Nothing lowers a rank.
  4. The member cap is the campaign's default cap plus the member bonus of every rank up to the current one; a rank-up adds the new rank's bonus.
  5. The recruitment board rolls a number of candidates drawn uniformly between the current rank's minimum and maximum candidate count (both included).
  6. The board refreshes on its own every refresh interval (an in-game-minute constant); the counter starts full, so the first board is rolled as soon as the campaign starts.
  7. A manual reroll costs exactly the current rank's reroll price in clan gold (never below 0). With less gold than that the game shows the not-enough-gold notice and nothing happens. A successful reroll also resets the automatic refresh timer.
